The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Welcome to the Life Aquatic. Today's episode will take you on the journey with Steve Zissou (Bill Murray), as he heads out to hunt for a mythical shark that killed his best friend. Our guests today will be Ned Plimpton (Owen Wilson), Jane Winslett-Richardson (Cate Blanchett), Eleanor Zissou (Anjelica Huston), and Klaus Daimler (Willem Dafoe), with a special appearance by Alistair Hennessey (Jeff Goldblum).
Despite the way it looks, this movie is far from hilarious. In fact, it dragged and felt very flat, despite the all-star cast. Avoid this one if you can, folks. I was less than impressed and only gave it the benefit of the doubt so you wouldn't have to. This movie had such potential and, instead, they left it to drown.

In Good Company

Dan Foreman (Dennis Quaid) is head of ad sales for a prominant American sports magazine. When he's demoted from his position to be replaced by Carter Duryea (Topher Grace), a man half his age, he gets an unexpected taste of corporate synergy as well as a dose of being left out of his daughter, Alex's (Scarlett Johansson) life. With a new baby on the way and having to deal with the stress of his new boss romancing his daughter, Dan is in over his head as he resists the transition from the old to the new.
Another movie this week that was headed in the right direction, but suddenly veered to become absolute nonsense. This movie, like The Life Aquatic, had much potential for humour and had the means for a potent message regarding the generation gap in today's workplace, but it decided to take the week off.

Racing Stripes

When abandend zebra Stripes (Jansen Panettiere, Frankie Muniz) is taken in by Nolan (Bruce Greenwood) and Channing Walsh (Hayden Panettiere), he believes that he's a racehorse destined for great things. With the aid of his buddies Tucker (Dustin Hoffman) and Fanny (Whoopi Goldberg), Stripes trains his hardest, falls in love, and helps out Channing's dad get past his inner demons about horseracing.
A great cast heads this one, and I'm happy to say that this one crosses the finish line ahead of the pack this week. It was the most enjoyable movie that I had the privilage of watching this week and I would greatly suggest this for the young'uns.
